This 8-day classic Yunnan loop tour is a deep journey through diverse landscapes and ethnic cultures. The trip begins in the romantic Lijiang Ancient Town, then proceeds to the poetic Dali. Experience Bai culture in Shuanglang and Xizhou, and enjoy an exclusive photoshoot on the Erhai Lake Ecological Corridor, including aerial footage. On the third day, venture deep into the heart of Yulong Snow Mountain, stroll through Spruce Meadow and Blue Moon Valley, and enjoy a leisurely Naxi afternoon in Shuhe Ancient Town. Next, the journey turns to the mysterious Eastern Kingdom of Women, Lugu Lake. Take a pig-trough boat ride, join a Mosuo bonfire party, and experience the unique matriarchal culture. Afterwards, head north to the "earthly paradise" of Shangri-La, be awed by the majesty of Tiger Leaping Gorge, enchanted by the purity of Pudacuo, and experience Tibetan Thangka painting and a warm Tusi banquet. Finally, return to Lijiang, concluding the fulfilling journey with the fragrance of plateau roses. The itinerary is well-designed with a balanced pace, combining natural scenery, cultural experiences, and relaxation, making it an ideal choice for a first exploration of Yunnan.

  • Full Erhai Lake Experience — Ascend Nanzhao Island in Shuanglang, roam the ecological corridor via popular pony cart or music bar cart, enjoy a professional photoshoot and aerial video, capturing Erhai's most beautiful moments.
  • Light Yulong Snow Mountain Hike — Take the Spruce Meadow cable car, stroll through alpine meadows and primeval forests, avoid crowds, and get close to the snow-capped mountains in a relaxed way, then admire the magical colors of Blue Moon Valley.
  • In-depth Lugu Lake Tour — Take a pig-trough boat to an island, complete a 180-degree lake circuit, overlook the heart-shaped bay from Lige Viewing Platform, join a Mosuo bonfire party, and deeply experience the Kingdom of Women culture.
  • Shangri-La Sacred Realm Exploration — Hike Tiger Leaping Gorge, one of the world's deepest canyons, visit the pristine fairy-tale world of Pudacuo National Park, and immerse yourself in the lively songs and dances of a Tibetan Tusi banquet in the evening.
  • Diverse Intangible Cultural Heritage Crafts — Experience Bai tie-dye in Dali's Xizhou, Dongba hand drumming and tea brewing by the stove in Lijiang's Shuhe, and learn about and personally try Thangka painting at the Mandala in Shangri-La.
Tips: As you are new to the high-altitude plateau, please avoid strenuous exercise and excessive alcohol consumption. Rest well after checking into the hotel to conserve your energy. Felt like we were in a storybook for eight days

I traveled with my mum, and we loved every minute. She got a bit teary during the Bai tie-dye in Xizhou, saying it reminded her of her grandmother. Our guide had hot ginger tea ready for us after the Spruce Meadow cable car ride, which was a lovely touch. The bonfire party at Lugu Lake was chaotic and joyful; my mum even did a little dance with the Mosuo grandmothers. Not having to figure out a single bus or entrance ticket was the best gift I could have given her.

The smells, the light, the sounds—unforgettable

I'm a solo traveler, and this was perfect. I made friends with a couple from New Zealand over bowls of crossing-the-bridge noodles in Dali. Waking up in the Lugu Lake lodge to the sound of oars on water is a core memory. Our guide handled everything so seamlessly; I just showed up and experienced things. The moment that stuck with me was sitting quietly by the First Bend of the Yangtze, the air smelling of pine and earth, watching the water carve its path. No stress, just beauty.

A magical trip where we didn't have to think once

Our guide, Tenzin, was a wizard. He'd have our cable car tickets ready before we even saw a queue, and the van was always waiting exactly where he said it would be. The morning light on the prayer flags at Yila Grassland was pure gold, and the silence at Blue Moon Valley was broken only by the sound of water. My husband, who usually hates tours, spent the whole ride back from Shangri-La trying to convince me we should do Tibet next with the same company.
