7-Day Lijiang, Lugu Lake, and Shangri-La Tour
Overview
This product is a carefully designed 7-day in-depth tour itinerary connecting Lijiang, Lugu Lake, and Shangri-La. Starting from the cultural atmosphere of Lijiang Ancient Town, to the magnificent scenery of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, then to the unique charm of Mosuo culture at Lugu Lake, and finally arriving in Shangri-La to experience the sacredness and tranquility of the Tibetan region. The itinerary not only includes the most iconic natural landscapes of northwestern Yunnan, such as Blue Moon Valley, Tiger Leaping Gorge, and Pudacuo National Park, but also emphasizes cultural immersion, arranging activities like intangible cultural heritage experiences in Shuhe Ancient Town, Mosuo bonfire parties, Tibetan Tusi banquets, and hands-on Thangka painting. We chose this route because it allows you to experience Yunnan's natural diversity (from subtropical to plateau) and ethnic cultural diversity (Naxi, Mosuo, Tibetan) to the fullest extent within a limited time. This itinerary is suitable for travelers who love natural scenery, have a strong interest in ethnic minority cultures, and are in good physical condition. It is an unforgettable journey that combines challenge and enjoyment.

A sensory feast from start to finish
I traveled with my mom, and we loved how seamless it all felt. We'd finish a boat ride on Grass Sea, and our guide would already have cold water and the van AC running for us. The smells alone were a journey—pine at Pudacuo, woodsmoke in Dukezong, and the incredible spices at the Tusi banquet. Mom got a bit teary watching the sunrise at Lugu Lake. It was the perfect mix of activity and calm, and we never once had to figure out a bus schedule or buy an entrance ticket.
Incredible scenery, and my own silly fault
This tour spoiled us. From the moment we landed to the final rose base visit, everything was arranged. The Jade Dragon Snow Mountain cable car ride was breathtaking, and the bonfire party at Lugu Lake was hilariously fun—I even attempted a Mosuo dance. My only complaint is entirely personal: I massively overpacked. Hauling my stupidly heavy suitcase between the beautiful old-town hotels was a self-inflicted workout. Next time, I'm bringing half the clothes and twice the memory cards for photos of places like the First Bend of the Yangtze.
A week where we didn't have to think about a thing
Our guide, Tenzin, was a magician. He'd have our cable car tickets ready before we even saw a queue, and the van was always waiting exactly where he said it would be. The morning light on Lugu Lake was pure gold, and the silence on the pig-trough boat was broken only by the splash of the oar. My husband, who usually stresses over trip details, spent the whole week just taking in the views and trying to sketch the Thangka patterns. The only logistical thing I did was decide which yak butter tea to try at the Tibetan banquet.
